As a child, she learned the piano and guitar from her older siblings, studied ballet from the age of five through college, and sang with an amateur jazz ensemble in college to earn extra money. Pepper attended Notre Dame University, graduating in four years with a Bachelor's degree in Business, with an emphasis in Accountancy; and minors in German, Russian, and Japanese. Her aptitude with languages has served her well in her roll as Tony's P.A., and she continues to teach herself new languages as the mood takes her, averaging three within a five year period. She's stubborn, and speaks her mind where others wouldn't. Pepper is extremely loyal, almost to a fault, and she knows it. She takes pride in her work, works hard, and won't stop until she's accomplished her task. Mother - Ellie Potts, nee Cassidy Father - Lewis Potts Siblings - Notable Friendships Personality: Virginia Potts was born and raised in Boston, attended Brown University, and began working for Stark Industries straight out of college as a secretary in the accounting department. Her life took a dramatic turn when she noticed a mathematical error in one of the financial reports and brought it to her supervisor's attention. Brushed off, she immediately took the matter directly to the top - Mr. Anthony Edward Stark himself, who was so impressed that he immediately promoted her, and nicknamed her Pepper - a sobriquet that quickly replaced her given name. Pepper spent the following years working at Tony's Executive Assistant, which involved doing everything Tony wanted her to (within reason). This was never easy. Whether keeping track of her boss in order to get him where he needed to be (relatively) on time, tossing him into the shower (literally) to get him moving, escorting his "dates" out the front door the morning after, or simply making sure he ate - Pepper taught Tony about business and in return learned everything she needed to do to keep Tony moving and on schedule. Until her last birthday, when her night out was interrupted by the news that her bosses military convoy had been ambushed, and Tony was missing. (She never did see that date again) Obadiah Stane assumes control of Stark Industries, and for three months, Pepper waits. The news comes from Tony's best friend and the company's military liaison, Colonel James Rhodes. Pepper is relieved that he's alive and back, but the arc reactor keeping bits of shrapnel away from his heart is both the most fascinating and terrifying thing she's even seen. Tony throws himself into his work after declaring that Stark Industries will no longer be manufacturing weapons - much to the consternation of the military and his own Board of Directors. Pepper gets firsthand experience with one of Tony's projects when she's asked to help him change the original arc reactor electromagnet with an updated model. It may be his admission that she's all he has that prompts her to turn the 'antique' reactor into a gift by encasing it in glass with the inscription: "Proof that Tony Stark has a heart". It may be her gift that in turn, prompts Tony to ask Pepper to dance at an impromptu public appearance. It's definitely her embarrassment over dancing with her boss (having forgotten to wear deodorant, in a backless dress, in front of everyone she works with) given his reputation with women, that sends them outside for air, where she nearly gives into her long-suppressed romantic feelings for Tony by kissing him. She balks, opting instead for a martini, with olives. Lots and lots of olives. At least three. Tony disappears while getting the drinks, and the next time Pepper sees him, a village in Afghanistan has been "relieved" of its SI firearms, and Tony's being removed from his titanium-alloy suit. His devotion to this new mission terrifies Pepper, who threatens to quit rather than help him kill himself. She's instead convinced to stay, and fulfills Tony's request to go to his office and find proof that Stane and the Board of Directors are double-dealing. What she finds in addition, is even worse. Stane had arranged for Tony to be attacked in Afghanistan, and she has the proof. Barely managing to get away from Stane, who doesn't know she's caught on yet, Pepper immediately informs Tony and Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. (don't ask, it's wordy) of what Obadiah is up to. Pepper and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents convene to discover what else Stane is up to, and find that Stane has been building his own suit... with which he then attacks them. Tony appears in the nick of time and battles with Stane, but when he runs out of power, he directs Pepper to overload the full-size arc reactor in the building beneath them, which will cause a massive electrical surge, frying everything in it's path. She does, and it's by the skin of his teeth that Tony manages to avoid Stane's fate of being incinerated alive. A cover story is prepared by S.H.I.E.L.D., which Tony prepares to give at a press conference. After years of avoiding Tony's passes and flirtations efforts, Pepper handles his sincere, if half-assed, attempt to spark something between them with the same humor, not willing to consider that he might actually be serious this time. She isn't surprised when he reveals to the press that he is the man they've dubbed "Iron Man", but she is slightly frustrated. Luckily, Pepper Potts knows how to adapt. Since then, Pepper has spent her time doing almost exactly what she did before. She goes where Tony wants her to go, helps keep his schedule and plans in order, and fulfills her multiple roles as assistant, confidant, advisor, and best friend. The major difference between her life then and now, is that she's begun studying a bit beyond basic first aid in order to patch Tony up after missions. She can even give stitches now. The entirety of her life revolves around Tony, which leads her to try and maintain very careful personal boundaries, but those have lessened somewhat with their friendship and mutual reliance. She has no special powers or abilities (though some would argue that), but she is a force to be reckoned with. Especially in four-inch stilettos. Height - 5'4" Weight - 110 lbs.
